Premium NHL Pick: April 29th 2011

San Jose Sharks

2nd round of the playoffs started last night as the Canucks beat Nashville Predators 1-0 in Vancouver. Tonight we are heading to HP Pavillion as the Sharks take on the Red Wings who were the best team of the 1st round, sweeping the Coyotes in four games.

Pavel Datsyuk has been as good as usual for the Wings while Ryan Clowe scored 7 points for San Jose Sharks in the first round against the LA Kings.

Sharks lost two games on home ice against the Kings but beat them three times on road and won the series in six games.

Between the clubs in regular season, Sharks won 3 of 4, dropping the first one on home ice but winning both games at Joe Louis Arena later.

Detroit were without Zetterberg in first round against LA Kings but him and Franzen who missed the last game will be back tonight in San Jose.

There is so much to say before these teams meet tonight but we will only have to wait and see how they start this 2nd round of the playoffs. ->Read more »

Chicago Blackhawks

Will this be the end for the defending champions or will they survive at least for another match against the Canucks.

Blackhawks will be under extreme pressure tonight when they face the Canucks in the fourth match of the series as they trail 0-3.

Canucks won first three games with scores of 2-0, 4-3 and 3-2 and they can close out Chicago Blackhawks if they win tonight.

Daniel Sedin and Henrik Sedin as expected are powering the Canucks in this series as the twins combine for 9  points. Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane on the other side have not been able to score a goal.

Hawks will need to do much better tonight if they want to survive. As much as everything has gone Canucks' way, I will side with the defending champions to survive this one even if they have a mountain to climb after falling 3-0 against the Canucks. They did not look so bad in second and third games after losing the first one 2-0.->Read more »
