Fifth pick of today

ST LOUIS BLUES @ DETROIT RED WINGS:

Blues have been winning games on road but they could not find a way to win games on home ice. They again lost at home and this time they were blanked by the Colorado Avalanche. They had 35 shots on net but they failed to score any goals. They were however on fire in LA when they edged the LA Kings in shoot out. They scored 4 goals in regulation. This was after their biggest win this month when they beat the San Jose Sharks 3-2,  after a last minute game tying goal scored by Colaiacavo.

Detroit Red Wings who had lost two games in a row played very good in New York and they beat the Rangers 3-1. They had 31 shots on goal and Howard stopped 28 shots. They took the lead late in third and their defense looked very good.

Rafalski started playing and when they get Kronwall and Lilja back in the lineup they won't have any defensive problems. That's too early for that now.

Mike Babcock is trusting in Justin Abdelkader and it is likely that this young player will have a lot of ice time tonight as well. Henrik Zetterberg is lined with Pavel Datsyuk. We will see how good these lines perform tonight.

Detroit is 17-8 SU in its last 25 games when playing at home against St. Louis.

Blues are a team to take very seriously when they are against top teams. We saw how they beat the Sharks and the Kings. I am sure Mike Babcock is aware of that so it won't come as a surprise if they play very good tonight.

Return of Brian Rafalski instantly made a difference in this team's defense and I have to say I like how goaltender Howard plays. I take him over Osgood any day in regular season. Osgood is a play off goaltender if you ask me.

Red Wings are going to get better with the return of injured players. They have Rafalski back now and it already made a difference.

I didn't like how Blues played against the Avalanche in their latest game. I know how they can beat top teams on road but I am not expecting that tonight. Not at Joe Louis Arena.

Red Wings are way below where they should be in the standings and every game is now important to them. They should win it in regulation tonight.

PREMIUM NHL PICK: DETROIT RED WINGS TO WIN [60 minute 3 way betting / regulation only]

1.90 @ Bodog.com

Outcome:

Red Wings needs to work on shots. 42 shots no goal? Are you kidding me!
