We have two premium picks today:

1) Nashville Predators @ Atlanta Thrashers:

Both teams are having a pretty good season. Thrashers with Dustin Byfuglien and Pavelec bounced back from the loss against Penguins with an excellent victory over the Capitals on weekend. Pavelec stopped 45 shots and Thrashers beat the Caps 3-1.

Nashville was against the Carolina Hurricanes meanwhile and they also won.

Predators have not been very consistent but they are lucky to have a good backup goalie. Rinne has been injured but backup goaltender Lindback went 4-1-1 in 6 matches.

Led by Cal O'Reilly's 16 points, Sullivan, Hornqvist and Marcel Goc has been very good this season. Byfuglien leads the Thrashers with 28 points in 27 games and Andrew Ladd has got 27 points.

Pavelec has an excellent 1.70 GAA and a 8-5-2 record this season. He will make another start tonight.

I like Thrashers in this one. They have been playing really good and both the offense and the defense have been excellent. They are coming off a great win over the Capitals. They should be able to beat the Predators on home ice.

PICK: ATLANTA THRASHERS TO WIN [MONEYLINE]

3 units @ 1.77 (Pinnacle) [WIN]

NJ DEvils @ Pittsburgh Penguins

What a great season Sidney Crosby is having. Crosby has a 15 game point streak and he scored 2 goals in Penguins latest win against the Blue Jackets on Saturday night. They were excellent on powerplays, scoring three first period powerplay goals and making it 4-0 in only 20 minutes.

Crosby has 17 goals and 14 assists this season. Pens are 18-8-2.

Devils had beaten the Penguins in all six games last season but everything's different this season. Devils are 8-16-2 so far and they are also playing without Martin Brodeur as well as Mark Fraser and forward Josefson. Parise is out too along with Salvador and Taormina. A long list of injuries making it all very difficult for this team to win hockey games. The only positive is that Brodeur is nearing a return.

Penguins have been excellent on powerplays and this shows in their results. Devils are 3 for 45 on powerplay on road this season.

If Penguins and Sidney Crosby continues their form tonight, expect another comfortable victory for the home team.

I will risk 2 units on puckline in this one.

PICK: PITTSBURGH PENGUINS - 1.5 [LOSS]

2 units @ 2.45 (Betcris.com)

Outcome:
Result:
+0.31 units 1W-1L

This should have been 2 for 2 but Penguins couldn't score 1 goal on 6 powerplay attempts and they also couldn't score an empty netter in last 85 seconds. They still won 2-1 but we needed 1 more goal. It was still a night with some profit thanks to Atlanta Thrashers.
