I have to confess. I never thought Devils would make it to round 3. Their performance against the Florida Panthers was what made me think like that. Everything changed against the Flyers in Round 2. Despite Flyers scoring first goal in almost every game and after Flyers had won the opening game, Devils managed to bounce back and win the series in 5 games.
In the first game Rangers blanked Devils but as I had said in my NHL pick for the second game, Rangers never dominated the match. We saw that in 2nd game when Devils won 3-2. The line changes by Devils Coach Pete DeBoer, worked like a charm.
Today, in this 3rd game in Newark where Devils were 2-1 against Rangers in regular season, Devils will probably play the same way they did in 2nd game.
This series was never going to be an easy one and goaltenders play a huge role in it. Brodeur is not at his best but Lundqvist is. Still, the Devils found a way to break him. They had a lot of net presence and it helped Clarkson score the game winning goal.
There isn't much else to say about this 3rd game. There are no new injuries and each team will play with their main goaltenders. I still think Devils have a slight advantage in this third game on home ice. Rangers didn't really impress on road in playoffs and Devils had a pretty good run at home against the Flyers in Round 2. (they had won both games on home ice).
