If Lundqvist could play half as good as he has been playing all season long, Rangers could have won the 5th game easily. They had all sorts of chances to complete the come-back after Devils took an unexpected 3-0 lead with only 10 shots on goal.
The return of Dubinsky was not enough for the Rangers to complete a memorable come-back. Will they survive tonight? That's a tough question, really. The series have seen each team playing good at times. There has been times, one period Rangers would dominate and the rest of the match was dominated by the Devils. And not necessarily, has it been the case that better side won games in this series.
Apart from Parise and Kovalchuk (who has only 1 goal in series), the help from Gionta and Zajac has helped Brodeur and his team win back to back games. Devils has done this before against the Flyers beating them three times in a row and winning the series in 5 games. Will it be case tonight? I believe so.
Despite the fantastic effort by the Rangers in game 5, they still couldn't complete the come back and that really didn't give them anything positive except for the ultimate disappointment at the end of the game. Now they are not so sure that their goaltender is perfect. I am not judging Lundqvist with one game but this is something psychological and it's not the best situation for Lundqvist to go on road after a poor performance.
All things considered, this is going to be a hell of a game tonight and I don't think we are going to see the game 7. Devils should win this one on home ice.
