Rangers Devils playoff pick May 16

Free NHL Pick: NJ Devils @ NY Rangers

May 16, 2012

The first match's score shouldn't misguide you. 3-0 does not reflect the game at all. It was of course still a perfect start for the New York Rangers. The first 40 minutes of the match looked like there was not going to be a goal and that we would end up watching the overtime.

However Girardi had other plans as he scored in the first minute of the 3rd period and gave the home team the lead. Following this goal, Devils lost their defensive strictness and Rangers started to look even more dangerous. That Girardi goal broke the dead-lock and with all the momentum, Rangers were all over Devils. With the second goal that Kreider scored on the powerplay was making sure the home team took the lead in series.

Devils never looked threatening in the final 10 minutes of the game and Anisimov's empty netter was just another chance for the home fans to celebrate.

This series will never be dominated by one team and despite the victory by Rangers in series opener, they should never expect an easy series. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we see Devils win 3-0 tonight. That's how tight this series will be.

I know one thing. At least I predict... Both goaltenders are making life really hard for opponent offense. Brodeur has excellent puck handling (although it looks dangerous at times) and Lundqvist has been amazing this year.

For these reasons, I will go with UNDER in this one.

Free NHL Pick: UNDER 4.5 Goals

NJD: 3 @ NYR: 2
