Toronto was against the Columbus Blue Jackets in their latest game last Thursday. They had only 22 shots on goal and lost the game 3-2. That was the third game they lost on home ice in last 15 days. The single victory in a five match span came against the Devils at Prudential Center.
Giguere is still out with a groin injury and Mike Brown is also out indefinitely with a hand injury for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Senators who beat Penguins and Predators but failed to get any point in Columbus despite an impressive comeback in third period will try to get back on track when they welcome the new year on home ice.
Senators powerplay was pretty good in wins over Predators and Penguins but they failed to produce anything on the man advantage in games against the Canes and Jackets.
I will side with the Senators tonight. Leafs are only 5-10-1 away from home and despite two losses in last two games, Senators have been playing better.
