Vancouver Canucks @ Chicago Blackhawks
My favorites this season are Canucks. They have had an impressive regular season and now they are going to face one of the biggest favorites Chicago Blackhawks. Canucks had some rough time stopping LA Kings especially on powerplays in the previous round but in the end they were victorious. Now they have a stronger opponent.
Blackhawks also had difficulties in eliminating the Nashville Predators in quarter finals. Preds were so close to tying the series at 2-2 in 4th game but they failed to hold off the Hawks for 15 seconds in the final period and that was the turning point in series. Hawks tied the game in the last minute and won it in overtime.
After the series against the Predators, Blackhawks coach decided to move defender Byfuglien to forward position. I am not sure how this is going to work but we have seen Byfuglien doing well offensively as well as defensively in regular season so I believe coach had a good reason doing so.
Canucks and Hawks met 4 times in regular season and both teams had won two games. Canucks beat the Hawks once in Chicago and once in Vancouver. The first game of the season was at United Center and the Canucks had won that one 3-2.
Against the Kings we saw the Canucks playing to win games on road as well as on home ice. They will probably try to start this series strong and beat the Hawks at United Center tonight. The latest game in March was a high scoring game that ended 6-3 for the Hawks.
At this level, it is not easy to predict the winner in first game.Hawks certainy have the advantage as they had been the better side when facing the Canucks at United Center recently. In the last 7 games at United Center, Canucks are 2-5 against the Hawks but this season they were able to beat the Hawks one time in two games.
I will go with OVER in this one as the last match between the teams had 9 goals (6-3 for the Hawks) and also the fact that Canucks played quite offensively in the previous round against the Kings. On top of that Hawks' defense had not been as perfect as it was early this season.They had allowed 7 goals against the Predators in last two games.
