Habs are coming to this match with an impressive victory over Washington Capitals who had an amazing regular season but once again failed to do anything in the playoffs. Habs shocked the Caps at Verizon Center, thanks to another excellent performance by goaltender Halak. Now they will face defending champions Penguins.
Pens played an inconsistent series against the Ottawa Senators in previous round. They were good in one match but poorly played in another. However, their experience paid off and they reached the semi finals.
Penguins were good against the Canadiens in regular season beating them in three of four matchups. Every game at Pittsburgh, Penguins had won. They are 5-1 in last 6 matches against the Canadiens.
Both teams have some minor injury problems but injured players are listed as day-to-day so there are no certain scratches.
This game might help Canadiens keep their momentum if they win but you never know when or where they are going to win hockey games. They have been unpredictable in series against the Caps, losing on home ice but beating the NHL's best home team in 3 of 4 games.
I am expecting Halak to stay hot and Penguins to be cautious as they will expect him to be good as well. They can't make the same mistakes Caps did. This should be a low scoring game.
