Premium NHL Pick: Mar 16 #1

We have two premium NHL picks today, here is the first one;

Boston Bruins @ Carolina Hurricanes:

As the end of the season is closing, Carolina Hurricanes have a mountain to climb and they simply can not afford any losses. They are at 14th place in the Eastern Conference and 8 points behing the 8th placed Boston Bruins. Bruins are actually no different. They have a top form Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning following them. They have lost two games in a row and they have to win this one to keep the Rangers away from them.

Canes played two games on home ice and they had an impressive come back victory over the Penguins on last Thursday. However, it was not as good against the Phoenix Coyotes and goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov on Saturday. Coyotes shut out the Carolina Hurricanes with a 4-0 victory. It was the third time Canes lost in last five games. Bryzgalov was amazing that night and he was the key player stopping every shot on goal when Carolina had a critical 5 on 3 powerplay.

This will be the third game between the clubs this season and both teams won one game on home ice. Canes won the latest one back in January with a 5-1 victory at the RBC Center. Bruins had won the first matchup of the season in October with a huge score of 7-2.

Both teams are desperate for a win tonight and I expect them to be careful in 1st period. Marc Savard is still out for the visiting Bruins while Canes are still without goaltender Cam Ward. Tuukka Rask and Leighton are expected to start between the posts tonight.
