Phoenix Coyotes kept on winning on road when they beat the Carolina Hurricanes yesterday. 4-0 win was yet another shut out of goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov in a week. The first one came against the Anaheim Ducks last Saturday. Bryzgalov will be resting tonight as LaBarbera will have a start against the Thrashers.
Thrashers had won back to back games after Ilya Kovalchuk's departure but it didn't last too long and they have a five game losing streak now. The latest loss was against the Rangers at Philips Arena.
The home side will be without Bogosian, Kane, Schubert and Valabik. They are 1-10-1 in their last 12 games against the Coyotes.
Coyotes's success is not entirely about goaltender Bryzgalov. They have acquired Stempniak from Toronto and the player has 5 goals and an asists in four games. Hanzal also scored two goals on Saturday in Carolina.
Coyotes are going to be without Robert Lang and Kurt Sauer, as well as Scottie Upshall who is out for the season.
When you look at Coyotes recent games, the four game winning streak also included two shut outs. The defense and of course Ilya Bryzgalov have been impressive. Their penalty killing was at their best, allowing only one powerplay goal on 17 penalty kills.
Thrashers played their worst game against the Carolina Hurricanes last Sunday and they kept on playing poorly all week long. I don't see them beating the top form Coyotes despite Bryzgalov's absence.
