We have two picks today and here is the first one:

NY Islanders @ Atlanta Thrashers:

Both teams won their latest games and they looked very good offensively. Islanders gave Chicago Blackhawks a big defeat as the Hawks couldn't come back from a 5-2 deficit. 44 shots against compared to 23 shots for the Islanders didn't make any difference and the Islanders took advantage of those 23 shots and scored 5 goals to beat one of the best teams in the league.Roloson's 41 saves was remarkable too.

Thrashers on the other side beat the Florida Panthers on home ice with a 4-2 score. They were almost perfect on penalty killing as they stopped the Panthers 7 out of 8 times on the man advantage. They have three wins in their last five games and improved their home record to 14-10-4.

Islanders are going to be without Rick DiPietro once again and defenseman Radek Martinek is also out.

When the Islanders beat the Hawks, rw Blake Comeau was amazing. He scored three goals and scored those goals on only 4 shots. He is getting better and better. We saw him score two goals against the Ottawa Senators right before the Olympic Break.

Thrashers may have lost Kovalchuk but it didn't make them a worse team. They are playing well and they acquired Clarke MacArthur from Buffalo Sabres before the trade deadline. Artyukhin was a good trade as well. If they can solve their defensive problems, they will be a very dangerous team with that offense. Nik Antropov and Maxim Afinogenov are team's scoring leaders but it was all Rich Peverley and White who carried the Thrashers against the Panthers in the latest victory.

Both teams seem to be good offensively at the moment and both will be looking to take all two points out of this match. We should be up for a high scoring game at Philips Arena tonight.
