It's time to win!

sharks sabres

San Jose Sharks @ Buffalo Sabres

Second time these teams meet. Buffalo Sabres had a pretty good game at HP Pavillion last month but a big defensive mistake in the second period costed them the match. Sharks won it 5-2.

San Jose Sharks are on fire. They have been on road and they couldn't have done better. They beat the Blues, Predators, Leafs and finally the Detroit Red Wings. The only loss came at the hands of the Columbus Blue Jackets with a 3-0 shutout when goaltender Mason made 40 saves.

Sharks are the second highest scoring team in the league at 3.3 goals per game and their powerplay is ranked at number 3. However, in the last three games, their powerplay struggled as they couldn't score a powerplay goal on 7 attempts. They will probably try something different tonight.

Buffalo Sabres are without a win in last 5 games and they are 2-8 in last 10 games. Everything was better 15 days ago but the Sabres started to lose back to back games and now they are 1 point behind the Ottawa Senators who is going to opposite way these days.

Sabres are 5th in the Eastern Conference but they need to get better soon before Flyers and Canadiens or Boston Bruins catch them in the play off race.

Jasom Pominville has 4 goals and 9 assists in last 13 games and Patrick Marleau is the hottest player for the San Jose Sharks, Marleau kept scoring and he has 9 goals and 9 assists in the last 14 games.

Buffalo Sabres really outplayed the Sharks in the first match but they weren't good in taking advantage of several scoring chances. They however are not playing like that now. Most of the players are playing their worst including Ryan Miller. Sharks are storming on road. They are also one of the few teams in the league with no injuries.

This will be the final game before the Olympic break for both teams so they will try to end it on a high note. I predict Sharks to do that.

PREMIUM NHL PICK: SAN JOSE SHARKS TO WIN [Moneyline]

washington capitals at blues

Washington Capitals @ St Louis Blues

When their 14 game winning streak came to an end, Capitals faced another team in a similar situation. They faced the Ottawa Senators who also had a winning streak snapped before that game. Senators and Capitals played a fantastic game and both teams kept scoring goals. Senators had a lead, and then the Capitals did. Senators fought back and won the game 6-5 in the end. Only 52 shots in total by both teams but 11 goals showed how good their offense was.

Capitals have scored 5 or more goals in 5 consecutive games but they lsot the last two because they allowed 6 goals in each of them. They are an excellent team in the offense but their defense is letting them down. They always have to score more goals to win a game. It's not the case with the Blues.

Blues beat the Toronto Maple Leafs last night. It was not familiar with the Blues to shut out a team on home ice. It was only their 11th win in 32 games at home. They will try to keep it up tonight when they face league's best team.

This will be the first game between these clubs since December 18th 2008. It was the Capitals who won 4-2 that time in Washington.

Capitals are 0-5 on road against the Blues in last 5 games and they are also 2-9-1 against the Blues. It is not really important and should be disregarded because those 12 games were played in a 10 year span.

Semin scored three goals against the Ottawa Senators in the last game and Ovechkin as the captain of the Capitals have scored 9 goals and had 10 assists in a 10 game span. He has been amazing.

When we look at injuries, Blues may be without Keith Tkachuk once again as he has an upper body injury. Caps have minor injuries too but they are pretty much healthy.

Capitals will surely want to react to their last two losses and Blues may be tired after last night's game. They will take on the best team in the league and this team is hungry for a win. I am expecting another goals gallery. ( We have seen 31 goals in last three games of the Capitals, that's over 10 goals per game.)
