Atlanta Thrashers @ Colorado Avalanche:
Colorado Avalanche won another game at the Pepsi Center on Monday. They are 7-2 at home in their last 9 games. They also made it three straight wins as they beat the Jackets, Oilers and finally the Blues, allowing their opponents score only 3 goals while they enjoyed 13 goals in these 3 games.
Thrashers are playing without Kovalchuk as the player was traded to the Devils last week. They seem to have adjusted to it in the latest game on home ice. Thrashers beat the Panthers 4-2 and finally won a game this month after a three game skid.
This is going to be the first time these clubs meet this season. It was all Thrashers last season as they won both of the two games between the teams.
Colorado Avalanche played with 5 rookies on Monday and they beat one of the best road teams St Louis Blues. Blues had the lead twice in first period but everytime Blues scored, Avs responded strong and managed to stay in the game despite a sloppy start. Avs owned the Blues in the second period and they shut them out in the remaining 40 minutes of the game to win it 5-2.
Brandon Yip continued to deliver for the Avalanche of late, as the player has scored two goals in a game twice in his last four games, including the latest victory against the Blues on Monday.
Wolski is expected to play tonight for the Avs but Ryan O'Reilly is a doubt for this game. However this team has many options and it shouldn't be a big problem. Hejduk and Jones are also out and it will be interesting how young players play in their absence. As for the Atlanta Thrashers, Boris Valabik is out as well as Schubert and goaltender Lehtonen.
Colorado Avalanche are a very consistent team on home ice and Thrashers haven't been doing well on road lately. This should be a close one considering the injuries for the Avs. Avs have been scoring more than their average at the Pepsi Center in recent games and Thrashers are always good on offense. This one should be a high scoring game.
