We have two picks for today

NJ DEVILS @ PHILADELPHIA FLYERS

4th time Devils and Flyers play tonight. Flyers won 2 of 3 meetings before this one. However the Flyers didn't complete their road trip the way they started it.They had beaten the Calgary Flames last Wednesday before dropping back to back games, scoring only one goal in this span. They first lost in Edmonton and then the Wild on Saturday. They will try to avoid third loss in a row.

While the Flyers have had a rough week, Devils didn't have a good one either, losing three of their last five and finally losing to rivals Rangers at the MSG. Devils looked terrible particularly on the offense against the Rangers. They had some scoring chances but frankly none of those shots really troubled Rangers goaltender Lundqvist. (except the only goal they scored). They are 17-10-2 on road this season but as of late they have not been as good as they used to be earlier this season. They have gone 1-4 on road in their last 10 games.

Devils acquired Atlanta's star Kovalchuk and he started to play right away. He didn't have a good game but he will surely make an impact.

Flyers are without defenders Ryan Parent and Danny Syvret. Devils are without defender Paul Martin and forward David Clarkson. Clarkson's absence is really important to them as he is a very creative player. Ray Emery of the Flyers should return soon after a hip injury. Tonight tho, Leighton is expected to start. Martin Brodeur is going to make another start for the Devils. ,(I have to say he has not been that great as of late so expect him to react and go for a shut out tonight.)

Keys to selection

Looking at latest scores, none of these teams look to be in shape. Devils have scored only 12 goals in 5 games but they never really score too many goals anyway. As for the Flyers who have scored 9 goals in 5 games, they are surely having a rough period. Their powerplay struggled in last 2 games, failing on 8 powerplay chances. Both teams have scoring difficulties. Not to mention that the Devils are the toughest team to score on in the league. This is going to be a tight game and we expect less than 6 goals.

PREMIUM NHL PICK: UNDER 5,5 GOALS

St Louis Blues @ Colorado Avalanche:

Second meeting this season as the Avalanche will try to beat the Blues once again, this time at theĀ  Pepsi Center. Avs beat the Blues on road earlier this season, with a score of 4-0.

Blues are never a good team on home ice. Strangely, they are one of the best teams on road. We just saw that once again as they beat the Hawks on road last Wednesday but then failed to beat the Sharks and the Hawks on home ice. They simply can't make their fans happy at home. They are now 16-8-4 on road and 9-16-5 at home.

Avalanche are not like Blues, their home record is pretty good at 17-8-2. In their last 10 games, when they enjoyed 80% of it at the Pepsi Center, they went 6-2.

Avalanche won only 2 of their last 5 games but rookie Matt Duchene kept on producing for this team. Craig Anderson shut out the Oilers on Saturday when the Avs won the game 3-0. He actually had only 20 shots on him but he was excellent in stopping all of them. Avs had an excellent performance wwith 42 shots on goal, except for their powerplays, which they scored only one powerplay goal in last 5 games.

Avs will be without some important starters, as Milan Hejduk, Ruslan Salei, David Jones and Matt Hendricks are all out due to injuries.

Blues have been very consistent on road this season. They are losing home and somehow find a way to beat opponents on road. Even the best teams like the Sharks, Hawks and the Wings. They beat every one of them. Their offensive strategy on road is simple. They stop their opponents and exploit their defensive problems. With players like Backes, Tkachuk, Oshie, Boyes it is not that hard to score goals.

I will once again go with Blues on road.
