Only the Chicago Blackhawks have won more home games than the Canucks. Jackets have been losing almost every game as they went 1-9SU in their last 10 games. Their problems continue to grow with more injuries as the month of December had not been good to them. Derek Dorsett injured his hand, Marc Methot has missed five games with an upper body injury. And finally Jared Boll and Alex Picard joined the injuries.
Jackets are coming off a home loss against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday and they have also lost against the Predators last week in the last game of the year. Their latest victory was against the Detroit Red Wings when they shut out a depleted Red Wings team on home ice.
Canucks have won four of their last five games and they are coming off back to back victories on road. They first beat the Blues and then went to Dallas to beat the Stars. They are very good on home ice but interestingly enough, one of their rare losses came against the very same Blue Jackets team they will play tonight. They simply can't make same mistakes and lose again.
Canucks are the second in the league on powerplay chances and they are also third in powerplay performance at 21.9%. Jackets have the third worst defence allowing 3.3 goals per game. They have allowed only 9 goals in the last 5 games but their offense lacked scoring (only 6 goals in 5 games) which resulted in 4 losses in last 5 games.
Jackets are 1-11 SU in their last 12 games and if we don't come across a big surprise tonight, this top form Canucks team should take revenge of the loss at the GM Place in October.
