Toronto Maple Leafs @ Calgary Flames:
After losing back to back games, Flames improved and they have won three games in a row. They were very solid against the Oilers in their latest game. Flames played very strict hockey and they shut out the Oilers until the last minute of the game. Oiler's single goal at the end did not help them in any way. I liked how the Flames players followed the puck and did not give Oilers many scoring chances. That's how you win hockey games.
Leafs had beaten the Penguins last Sunday which was the surprise of the weekend but they failed to repeat it in Edmonton on Wednesday. They looked lifeless and they ended up losing the game 3-1.
These teams are meeting for the second time this season with Calgary winning the first one in Toronto.
Leafs have not won a game at the Pengrowth Saddledome since Dec, 2002 . Do they have another plan for the new decade? We will find out tonight.
Flames defense looked excellent to me against the Oilers and the LA Kings. I don't see any reason for them to stop doing the same thing. That strategy apparently works and it should work better against a team they have dominated on home ice.
Saturday's are always open to surprises and because the moneyline odds are too low, I'd like to go with UNDER 6 Goals for this game. The odds are over 1,75 and I really count on both goaltenders and Flames' defensive performance in recent games.
