St Louis Blues @ Edmonton Oilers:
Blues are one of those teams performing better on road especially against top teams in the NHL. They managed to beat the San Jose Sharks, Detroit Red Wings and finally last night, the Vancouver Canucks. Again on road! They were beaten by the Tampa Bay Lightning the last time they played on home ice. But they were the winner against the Calgary Flames at the same place only a few nights before that.
Edmonton Oilers have been struggling with injuries since the start of the season and they are still without top players Mike Comrie, Ales Hemsky and Pisani. Forward Puliot and Francois Jacques are also out along with defender Chorney and goaltender Khabibulin.
Edmonton Oilers, despite all these injury problems have gone 15-16-4 this season and it is pretty good considering all those injuries.
When you look at this team, you see Dustin Penner has been carrying them. He has 37 points this season with 18 goals and 19 assists in 35 appearances. Visnovsky is following him with 25 points. I like Gilbert Brule as the young player has 22 points with 9 goals already.
We will see Devan Dubynk play for the second time this season. He played against the Canucks llast month and despite 21 saves he had allowed 3 goals in that game.
Blues were amazing last night in Vancouver. They scored an early powerplay goal and took the lead. Canucks fought back and scored the equalizing goal thanks to Shane O'Brien's individual effort but after that goal it was all Blues. Especially in the 2nd period Blues were all over Canucks. Backes scored twice and Tkatchuk added one more to win it for the Blues with a final score of 3-1. Conklin was also good stopping 29 shots. It was his second excellent performance last night after his shut out in Detroit.
Blues played very good last night and I have to say I was very impressed. It looks like they have found a way of exploiting opposition's offense on road. Edmonton Oilers were robbed by Alexander Ovechkin's amazing effort in third period on Saturday and they will be desperate for a win tonight. That's the key for the Blues. They know how to deal with offensive teams. I am expecting them to keep the momentum and win it tonight too.
