Fourth pick of the day
Buffalo Sabres @ Montreal Canadiens:
Buffalo Sabres are leading the NorthEast with 40 points in 30 games. They are 7-3-0 in their last 10 games with three wins in a row. They can make it four wins in a row tonight if they beat the Canadiens at the Belle Centre.
Sabres beat the Rangers at the MSG on Saturday after shutting out the Capitals and also beating the Blackhawks on home ice.
Ryan Miller stopped 36 shots against the Rangers on Saturday despite allowing two goals in the first period. He shut the door after 20 minutes and helped his team win the game.
Sabres are a very offensive team. They don't sit back, they just crash the net with all the firepower they have. Canadiens is the opposite. Especially in their most recent games. This doesn't mean bad tho, Canadiens had won three games in a row before started losing last Thursday. First thery lost on home ice to the Penguins and then they could not protect a 2-0 lead in Atlanta on Saturday. They had only 19 shots in Atlanta after 21 shots against the Penguins.
They key player for the Canadiens has been the goaltender Carey Price. Price was amazing against the Boston Bruins on their 100th anniversary day as the Canadiens destroyed their opponents with a score of 5-1. That was the only time they were close to 30 shots / game. Afterwards they had only 80 shots on goal in four games.
At the Belle Centre Montreal is 7-2 SU in its last 9 games against Buffalo. But the Sabres are hot right now and the Candiens look like they have lost the momentum they gained with the victory against the Bruins.
Another factor is that Canadiens are starting with Halak tonight and give Price some time to rest. It is not that Halak is not a good goaltender. He is at 2.80 GAA and thats only slightly worse than Price's 2.76 but he has won only 6 of 10 games and Ryan Miller is looking better tonight.
Sabres offense and Ryan Miller's good performance should win this game.
