After winning two games in a row Canucks dropped their last two games before they headed back to Vancouver. Now they are back home and they will take on one of the better teams in the NHL on road.
Atlanta Thrashers who are 9-4-1 on road lost two of their road games in a row. Two regulation losses, first in Toronto and then in Calgary last night.
They managed to score only three goals while allowing their opponents score eight.
Canucks will try to work on their offense as well as their defense. They had been good in penalty killing until those two losses on road. They allowed 4 goals on 7 powerplays. Their special teams suffer on powerplay as well. They scored only once in the last 16 powerplay attempts. Despite this poor form recently, they are still second best in the NHL on powerplay goals. So they know how to get back to scoring powerplay goals. They should.
These two teams meet for the first time this season and Vancouver is 5-2 SU in its last 7 games when playing Atlanta.
They have been great on home ice going 10-4-0. Demitra and Grabner are still out and Edler is day to day. Luongo is expected to start tonight and Thrashers will start with Pavelec.
If Canucks can improve on their special teams performance they will get back to winning hockey games. Thrashers' form has been going down in the last 10 days and poor performances on road lately doesn't look promising before they play one of the strongest teams on home ice.
Canucks should finish this game in regulation time.
