This is the second premium pick of the day:
Ottawa Senators @Anaheim Ducks
Both teams have lost four in a row and they are both very desperate for a victory tonight. Ducks will try to repeat their excellent play against the Chicago Blackhawks 10 days ago that brought them a 3-0 victory.
Ducks played against the Minnesota Wild on Friday and they had a late lead in third. They however couldn't protect it and let the Wild first take the game into overtime and win it in shoot out. They were playing pretty good but they have been giving up leads all season long. That was just another example.
And the Ottawa Senators. I liked how they fought against the San Jose Sharks last week when they lost the game 5-2. They had 27 shots on Sharks goaltender Greiss and killed of all Sharks powerplays but couldn't keep up with Sharks offense.
They are still without Pascal Leclaire and goaltender Elliot is not really the most consistent player out there. He is good at times but soft goals like he allowed in San Jose is not helping his team. 18 goals allowed in four games is too much for a team like Ottawa Senators. It is time for the defense and Elliot to start playing better if they want to win on road.
This is the fifth road game in as many games for the Senators.
Ducks dropped two games on road and they are happy to return to the Honda Center. They rested yesterday so they should be fresh tonight. However, they are not the best team on home ice. They are 8-8-1 at the Honda Center this season. They have improved lately and they are 4-2-1 in the last 10 games.
Sebastien Giguere will be starting tonight for the Anaheim Ducks. Anaheim Ducks are second in the league on the powerplay. They are however going to play the Senators who rank 10th in the NHL on penalty killing percentage. Senators are at 81.9% and that was even higher before they played Boston Bruins and allowed three pp goals.
I think Anaheim Ducks will play more defensive tonight as they can not make the same mistakes they have been doing in the last four games. Their powerplay is very good but Senators are good in killing penalties so it will be an interesting contest to watch.
Some stats:
The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Anaheim's last 6 games at home
The total has gone UNDER in 6 of Anaheim's last 8 games
Ducks are the favorites tonight. They are well rested and they will face a very tired Ottawa Senators who will play their fourth road game in five days. But it is not safe to play moneyline on teams who are streaking and these teams have both lost four games in a row. I am counting on goaltenders and defensemen tonight.
PREMIUM NHL PICK: UNDER 5,5 GOALS
good luck!
