First premium pick for the first game this afternoon,

Vancouver Canucks @ Carolina Hurricanes:

Only 1 regulation win in the last 10 games is the story of the Carolina Hurricanes. The last loss came on home ice against the Washington Capitals. That made 5 losses in a row and today they will take on a hot team that has won 4 out of the last 5. Vancouver Canucks want to keep winning on road as they are coming off back to back victories against the New Jersey Devils and then the Philadelphia Flyers. That last victory in Philadelphia costed Flyers coach John Stevens his job and Flyers management fired him.

Canucks' single loss in last five came against San Jose Sharks. 21 goals in last 5 games show how easily they have been scoring goals.

Sedin brothers kept scoring goals and assisting in the last two victories on road. Henrik had 4 assists while Daniel had 2 assists and 1 goal.

This is the first time these two teams meet this season and Canucks won the single game of last season in Vancouver with a score of 4-3.

Carolina Hurricanes are going to be without defender Corvo along with goaltender Cam Ward and LW Michael Ryan. Corvo got injured in the last game against the Capitals and he is out indefinitely.

I liked the way Canucks dealt with opponents in the last two games. They were explosive against one of the toughest teams in the NHL to score on, the Devils. They beat the Devils 5-2 and scoring 3 goals in the first period against Martin Brodeur is not something we see everyday. That showed the strength of their offense. They they shutoout one of the highest scoring (despite late struggles) teams in the NHL, Philadelphia Flyers, and beat them 3-0. Luongo stopped every shot on goal and Canucks defense did a good job clearing pucks in front of Luongo. That's also a good sign for this team's defensive power.

Carolina Hurricanes will again be desperate but we have not seen productivity out of desperation from them in the last 10 games. Only one regulation victory in this span. It is not likely that they find a way of winning hockey games tonight against one of the hottest teams in the NHL.
