Columbus Blue Jackets @ New York Rangers
Jackets have been hot as of late and they just lost the game in Nashville on Saturday. It was mainly due to numerous penalties taken by the Jackets team in the third period. Nashville Predators did not take advantage of those powerplays but the Jackets team was exhausted after that. They still managed to take it into shootout but Predators kept their streak alive and beat the Jackets in shoot out.
Jackets turned the momentum the opposite direction after their huge loss to the Detroit Red Wings 2 weeks ago. Later they have got at least one point in every game they have played. Only the last one in Nashville, they were beaten.
Rangers started perfect to this season but after their 7 game winning streak they have gone 4-9-1. Despite the presence of Gaborik who has been scoring goals on a regular basis, they have been suffering from some injuries too. Dubinsky and Chris Drury has been out and they will remain sidelined tonight as well.
Their latest loss came on home ice when they were beaten by the Florida Panthers. Outshooting the Panthers 34-28 was not enough to win the game and Panthers goaltender Vokoun stopped 32 shots to give the Rangers another defeat on home ice.
When we look at games between these teams, we see only one game last season, Rangers winning that one 3-1 in Columbus. They don't meet that often, almost only once every season. This is also the only meeting this season.
Jackets will be without Dorsett, Modin and Murray tonight but the way they have been playing in the last 10 days, I am looking forward to see them in action again. If the Rangers can not come up with something special tonight, unlike what they have been doing lately, it won't be easy for them to beat this hot Jackets team.
