NY Islanders @ Carolina
What a start to the season for the Carolina Hurricanes. They will try to avoid a 14 game losing streak tonight. They lost 12 games in regulation. Nothing looks to get better as they have lost Cam Ward to injury. They started their last game with Legace and lost to the Los Angeles Kings despite a comeback from 2-0 in the third period.
Eric Staal is also another missing player for tonight's game against an Islanders team coming off a 5-4 shoot out loss in Washington. Islanders had a 4-2 lead but they couldn't stop the Capitals team in the third period and then lost in shoot out.
Islanders are also having injury problems as forwards Doug Weight and Kyle Okposo are both sidelined.
When these teams met last month , the Islanders won the game 4-3 in shoot out.
It's hard to believe a team like Carolina Hurricanes have not won a single game yet. They try harder every time especially when they play at the RBC Center but somehow they can not get over their defensive problems. Now that they are without their goaltender Cam Ward, things are even harder. Islanders had a good rythm before they lost two key players to injury. Dough Weight and especially Kyle Okposo were creating many scoring chances for the Islanders and playing without them is not easy. They still managed to find a way to score four goals in Washington despite the shoot out loss.
Against a Carolina Hurricanes team that is desperate for a win, they will surely find a lot of scoring chances tonight. Canes will start with a lot of forecheck and will look for an early opener. Should the Islanders take an early lead, Canes will get more desperate.
This game could go either way but it looks like we will see more than 6 goals tonight.
