It wasn't a lucky Saturday as we went 1-2 in our premium picks. Senators couldn't beat Atlanta's netminder Pavelec on 50 shots which was his career high. Flames were unusually non productive against the Red Wings and the game ended 3-1.
We look at today's games and hope to go 2 for 2. We have one pick early for the afternoon games and we will publish another pick later this evening.
San Jose Sharks @ Carolina
Carolina's losing streak continued in Philadelphia as they got thrashed by the Flyers. Leighton started the match to replace Cam Ward who has been playing almost forever. It was not the way coach Maurice thought Leighton would play in the first period. Leighton allowed some easy goals and the lowly offense of the Canes was no matchup against the Flyers.
Cam Ward is going to be back between the pipes this afternoon but I have to say I saw him rusty too in his last match against the St Louis Blues. He allowed 5 goals on 18 shots.
Sharks are coming off a four game winning streak and the last two was against some of the top teams in the NHL. They first beat the LA Kings and then the Avalance at the HP Pavilion. They were fascinatingly dominant against the Colorado Avalanche. 46 shots on goal was how they wanted to win that game. And they did.
Dany Heatley has been playing great, so has Patrick Marleau who is enjoying his best start to the season.
Sharks are still without Setoguchi and Pavelski as well as Torrey Mitchell. Meanwhile the Canes are without forward Erik Cole, defender Gleason and forward Ryan.
I know the Canes will be desperate for a win today but I don't see how they will do it against a stronger side like San Joe Sharks after failing to do it against the Blues and Flyers.
