New York Rangers
Washington Capitals

Free NHL Pick - May 9, 2012

It's the Game 6 and New York Rangers visit the Washington Capitals with a 3-2 series lead in its pocket. If it wasn't for the extra effort by former Dallas Stars player Brad Richards, who scored the game tying goal with 6.6 seconds left in 3rd, Capitals could have been planning to finish the series tonight. But the late double-minor taken by J. Ward with only 22 seconds remaining costed Caps the game.

Staal scored the second powerplay goal in match in overtime and Rangers won the match 3-2 and took the lead in series.

What makes Rangers the better team? Goaltending maybe, but what about the Capitals? They have changed a lot since last year. They know how to defend and even a player like Alex Ovechkin knows his role to play his defense in every game. Every player tries to block shots and the team defends as a whole now. That is of course a great thing for their defense but it has also damaged their offense. (Only 18 shots on Lundqvist in 5th game)At the end of the day, it's the decision made by the coach and if he thinks this is the way to win playoff games, that's the way it is, and he has been quite right about this decision. It's worked pretty good for them except for maybe the last 20 seconds of the 5th game.

Tonight, I will go with UNDER 5 Goals as I am expecting both teams to start the game conservatively. Each team knows how difficult it is to break both goaltenders and they will try to get the first goal in match. This should go UNDER.
