I thought Devils had their best start to a NHL playoff game this season when they outshot the Flyers 11-0 in the first few 8 minutes of the first game. Danny Briere had different plans. Briere who had a disallowed goal didn't make a mistake in overtime and gave the Flyers their first win over the Devils in the series.
Now that the Flyers are leading 1-0 in series, Devils will feel the pressure even more tonight. They are yet to find a solution to their defensive problems. They seem to have depended too much on Brodeur, defense is not really helping the 40 year old goaltender. Not that he had a perfect game...
Flyers powerplay which was amazing against Penguins in 1st round wasn't that great against Devils as they could score only 1 goal on 6 tries. Devils penalty killing seemed to be getting back to their normal.
Giroux is the points leader of his team and he scored a goal against Devils too. Any team who is going to try to stop Flyers this season has to stop Giroux and then Briere. It's not that easy!
Parise was pretty good in first game scoring one goal and having an assist but they need other players like Kovalchuk to step up too.
Whatever the outcome is tonight, I am going to go with OVER in this one. Most of the games between Devils and Flyers have been OVER and looking at the defensive problems Devils have and offensive power of the Flyers, this should go OVER.
